A SEA Point resident and former domestic worker, Thandeka Sisusa, has been given until next month to vacate the Rapallo apartment building.Sisusa applied in the Western Cape High Court for an extension of her stay in the one-room flat she has called home for the past eight years.Acting Judge Nolitha Kose told Sisusa’s lawyer, advocate Anton van Loggerenberg, that his client had been given enough time to vacate and look for alternative accommodation.Van Loggerenberg said his client was aware that she has to vacate but all she asked was for more time. Finding new accommodation now would be impossible.Advocate Ross Randall, representing property owner Lior van Embden, said nothing had changed that warranted an extension.Judge Kose said that despite it being December Sisusa had to vacate the property six months ago. After both arguments, the acting judge extended the applicant’s stay.“The applicant is ordered to vacate the property on the 9th of January. If not, the sheriff of the court is ordered to evict the applicant on the 10th of January,” said Judge Kose.Outside court Sisusa said she was not pleased about the time she had been given to vacate the property. “I’m not happy with the judge’s decision. I still will not have enough time to look for a place because people are starting to go on holiday.”Sisusa has been living in Sea Point for 23 years and in the flat for the past eight .
